Time Deltas

The CLI accepts two time delta styles.

These formats are used by flags such as --preserve-last and --fetch-max-age.

Legacy key/value

weeks=2,days=3,hours=1

Rules:

  • units must be unique
  • negative values are not allowed
  • unit names use full words such as weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds

Common examples:

  • weeks=1
  • days=14
  • hours=12,minutes=30

Compact suffix

2w3d4h5m6s

Supported suffixes:

SuffixMeaning
wweeks
ddays
hhours
mminutes
sseconds

Common examples:

  • 1w
  • 14d
  • 12h30m
  • 2w3d

Choosing a format

Both formats are equivalent. Use whichever one you find easier to read.

  • The legacy key=value style is more explicit.
  • The compact suffix style is shorter and faster to type.

Zero

Both 0 and 0.0 are treated as zero duration.
